is a wearable airbag system for motorcyclists use.
In case of accident it automatically inflates to protect the most important body areas.
HOW TO PROTECT
The mechanical triggering system is a physical length calibrated cable which always detects the distance between motorcycle and motorcyclist
The simple mechanical solutions work always and they are very friendly use device.
The “uncertain accident conditions” are detected as potential dangerous situation and the airbag system is activated.
It’s very important that the airbag system is activated in all situations, because the trauma are independents from speed but from the obstacle which hurt the motorcyclist.
If no impact occurs, the motorcyclist can recharge his airbag system without special assistance (after simple check list).
The operation is cheap and mistake free.
A Simple system is the most reliable
The simple mechanical solutions have a user interface more elegant than other systems, but are the most reliable and
most suitable for safety systems.
In fact the most popular and reliable safety system is mechanical: the seat belt of the car.
But there are lots of of other examples: braking systems, _re systems, closure systems security, emergency evacuation
systems, shutter systems (weapons included).

- is always ready for the use and requires no routine maintenance (only revision after 4 years)
- is easy to use
Classic example: the compass always works. GPS after some get discharged (and sometimes is out of signal...)
An accident is never instantaneous but is a sequence of events measured in milliseconds.
More an accident ends in few milliseconds only more high is the deceleration which compresses internal organs,
causing severe internal trauma. In these case survival chance is low even in presence of high level protection.
Fortunately, in 98% of accidents the first impact between driver and obstacle occurs in the first 150 milliseconds.

it inflates in milliseconds 80/85 and is still fully inflated before impact
it remains protective for at least 30 seconds to protect the motorcyclist from subsequent impacts that may occur
then it deflates automatically to allow rescues to assist properly
HOW MUCH PROTECT
Airbag system are divided in 2 categories: EN1621/4 certificated (and protective) and not certificated.
Since 2013, the only European Standard to test airbag for motorcyclist is EN1621/4:2013
EN1621/4 certificated airbag system shall be labelled with the relevant pictogram which grant the safety features to the customers.
In order to avoid that each airbag system manufacturers test in independent way, there is a new unique European standard called EN1621/4:2013 “Motorcyclists' protective clothing against mechanical impact-Part 4: Inflatable Motorcyclists' protectors-Requirements and test methods”.
In the European Standard are described very severe tests to be performed in order to verify that the airbag is a Personal Protective Equipment for motorcyclists.

MOTOAIRBAG® fulfils all the tests and it is Certified EN1621/4:2013 as airbag for motorcyclists Level 2 The results of impact tests on MOTOAIRBAG® show that the transmitted force for the back airbag system is only 1,4 kN and 0,8 kN for the frontal airbag.
THESE TESTS ARE PERFORMED WITHOUT ADDITIONAL RIGID PROTECTORS
MOTOAIRBAG® have been tested in different configuration in real crash test with dummies in order to ensure that the airbag system is activated in all cases (impact configuration ISO13232)
The aim of the test is to evaluate the impact attenuation.
An iron kerbstone falling mass hits the protector with a 50J of energy. Under the protector a loading cell measures the residual force transmitted through the protector, measured in kN.
Protectors with a very low transmitted force are the best
